What is Critical Supplement?

Be prepared for a life-changing diagnosis with Critical Supplement Insurance. Critical Illness insurance pays a cash benefit based on the diagnosis you, your covered spouse or covered children receive. The flexibility of cash benefits means you can control how to use the benefits, including covering medical expenses, seeking a second opinion, traveling for care, or just managing day-to-day expenses.

There are two types of Critical Supplement plans:

  • Cancer-Only Plans: Will pay benefits if you are diagnosed with a covered cancer.
  • Critical Illness Plans: Will cover a wider set of conditions, including cancer, heart attack, stroke, and coronary bypass surgery. Your plan may also cover kidney failure, organ transplant surgery, or accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage.

The application provides more details on the diagnoses, conditions, and benefits. Benefits and plan availability may vary by state.

What can I spend my benefits on?

Upon diagnosis of a covered critical illness, you may receive a lump-sum cash payment that you can use to pay for anything you like. This financial safety net can compensate for lost wages, cover additional travel expenses for care, or give you the financial flexibility to elect a treatment plan that isn’t fully covered by your insurance.

How much does Critical Supplement cost?

Critical Supplement insurance premiums start at $2 a month, and vary depending on your plan level, age, smoking status, and state of residence. Based on the plan you select, you will receive between $5,000 to $30,000 upon diagnosis of a 100% covered critical illness.
