What is qualifying health insurance coverage?
Health insurance coverage is required to participate in an HRA. Qualifying health insurance coverage varies by HRA type.
HRA Types & Qualifying Health Insurance Coverage
- Individual Coverage HRA (ICHRA): Requires enrollment in individual coverage. Typically purchased on healthcare.gov or a state insurance website, without tax credits.
- Qualified Small Employer HRA (QSEHRA): Requires enrollment in minimum essential coverage (ME (MEC). Includes marketplace (individual coverage), job-based, Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP health insurance plans.
- Group Health Plan HRA: Requires enrollment in any group health insurance plan. This does not have to be through your own employer.
You can view your HRA type on your member dashboard.
